A LUDLOW food business that is leading the way in exporting is serving as a showcase for other companies throughout Shropshire.

Philip Dunne MP for Ludlow is set to visit a local food firm’s brand new, state-of-the-art facility to demonstrate international growth opportunities for rural businesses.

Mr Dunne will attend the Ludlow Nut Company tomorrow (Friday) along with the International Trade’s 40ft Export Hub Truck, members of the Shropshire International Trade team and neighbouring firms to demonstrate how international export can provide the steps for rural business development, the creation of new jobs, and encourage local economic growth.

The MP and Shropshire Department for International Trade has organised for the Export Hub Truck, part of the Government’s national Export is GREAT campaign.

Philip Dunne MP, will provide an overview of the support available to rural businesses across Ludlow, Bridgnorth and Church Stretton and beyond to help them unlock markets overseas, and how companies such as Ludlow Nut Company, Igloo Vision, Grainger & Worrall and FL Hitchman have benefited as a result.

“As our name suggests, we’re extremely proud of our heritage in Ludlow and it was only natural for us to develop a new site just across the road to cater for increased demand both here in the UK and internationally,” said Helen Graham, Managing Director at The Ludlow Nut Company.

“The support that we received from the Department for International Trade has been incredibly valuable to our business’s future and in the creation of more local job opportunities, and we are eager to encourage more rural Shropshire businesses to explore the possibilities.”

The Nut Company based is selling its breakfast cereals to Japan and other parts of the world.

Success in the Japanese market is the latest export success for the Ludlow Nut Company.

It follows on the winning of export orders in Hong Kong, Kuwait, Spain, Estonia and Norway.

The Ludlow Nut Company is one of a number of success stories for food based businesses based in south Shropshire.
