ACTIVITIES DAY – Mayfair Community Centre is holding an activities day on Saturday from 10am to 3pm offering cookery workshops for kids, complementary therapies, exercise sessions, free blood pressure checks and arts and crafts demonstrations.
DANCE NIGHTS – Saturday is folk dance night at Ticklerton Village Hall from 8pm to late. No experience necessary as Dot and Ron Cox are there to lead the way. To find out more, call 01694 722418. Derek Kade presents a country 50s, 60s and 70s night at the district club on Sunday and every Wednesday during term time.
Circle dancing can be enjoyed at St Lawrence’s Primary School from 7pm at a cost of £4 per session. To find out more, call 01743 241127.
COACHING – Five coaching lessons in croquet continue during April for £20 with all equipment provided, so call 01694 722610 if you would like to take up the offer. New members are also welcome.
PUBLIC CONSULTATION – A public consultation under the heading planning for the future of Church Stretton will be held at the Silvester Horne Institute on Tuesday at 7pm. All welcome.
CAMERA CLUB – Longmynd Camera Club rounds off its programme on Wednesday with a competition with an open subject. Entries will be judged by Tony Broom CPAGB and the merit award winner, league winners and photographer of the year will be announced. The meeting will take place at the URC Hall at 7.30pm and visitors are welcome to attend.
QUIZ NIGHT – A St George’s Day quiz night will be held at the King’s Arms at 7.30pm on Monday. Entry fee is £2.50 and there will be a free drink for the best English name team. Proceeds of the evening go to Macmillan Cancer Support.
FLOWER CLUB – Church Stretton Flower Club holds its annual general meeting on Tuesday at All Stretton Village Hall from 7.30pm, followed by a demonstration by Yvonne Riley, which she has called Out and About with Flowers. Visitors always welcome.
LADIES LUNCH – Rushbury and Cardington WI is hosting a jubilee celebration ladies’ lunch at Rushbury Village Hall on Wednesday, also with a flower demonstration by Jane’s Flowers. Tickets cost £12.50 including a glass of wine and can be reserved on 01694 723819 or 771868. Proceeds for Hope House Hospice and WI Funds.
WANTED – Photographs and stories about places and events in Church Stretton during the last 60 years are needed for an exhibition to be held on Saturday and Sunday, June 2 and 3.

LUNCH – There is a two-course lunch of locally produced sausages and mash followed by a choice of pudding and tea and coffee on Friday, April 27, at the parish centre for the Save the Children Fund. The cost of the meal is £5.50 and will be served from noon.
SALES – Enquire for places for the tabletop sale to be held at the Silvester Horne Institute on Saturday, April 28, by calling the town council offices on 01694 722113. The sale runs from 11am to 3pm and tables cost £10.
Book in for a car boot sale planned for Sunday, April 29, at the Yew Tree Inn, All Stretton, by calling 07968 654033.
Car space will be £5 and van space will be £7, and all proceeds will go to Dan’s Africa Medical Volunteer Project. A bar will be available during the event and a bouncy castle to provide fun for the children.
SPONSORED WALK – A 12-mile sponsored ‘Walk for Heroes’ is due to take place on Sunday, April 29, in memory of two fallen soldiers. Call 01694 751369 or 07739 721459 to register and meet at All Stretton.
Drinks and a breakfast roll available from 9am and a pie and peas meal for all who complete the walk is available for £1.50.
