POLICE discovered 25 cannabis plants at a Church Stretton home while carrying out a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

They arrested a 36-year-old man at an address in Cross Banks. He was taken into custody on suspicion of producing cannabis, a class B controlled drug.

The search was conducted on Monday morning by PC Damon Preston and CSO Ken Humphreys from the Church Stretton Local Policing Team, assisted by PC Stuart Coote.

They seized 25 cannabis plants under cultivation together with various items of equipment.

The warrant was the latest in a series recently carried out by police in Shropshire.

“We obtained the warrant after receiving information from the public about activity at this particular address,” said PC Preston.

He urged people to call the nonemergency 101 number if they have information or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111.

“We may not always act immediately on information received as it can take time to obtain the necessary evidence to obtain a warrant. However, all information will be followed up without fail,” added PC Preston.

The man arrested was interviewed at Shrewsbury Police Station before being given bail while further enquiries are made.
