MUSIC NIGHT - The Roving Crows will be entertaining at Rushbury village hall tomorrow (Friday) night with a programme of folk and rock music.

Proceeds of the event and bar takings will benefit Rushbury School.

CINEMA - Quartet (12) is the film to be screened at All Stretton village hall on Friday night starting at 7.30pm.

Admission for adults is £4 and interval refreshments will be available.

LECTURE - Derek Grounds will be giving an informal lecture on the history of St Laurence’s Church at 3pm on Saturday.

CAR BOOT SALE - Rushbury and Cardington WI is organising a car boot sale at Rushbury village hall on Saturday from 10am-2pm.

OPEN CHURCH - Why not hop on the Wenlock Wanderer shuttle bus and visit St Margaret’s Church in Acton Scott which is open on Saturday for an exhibition on the theme of cycling depicted with history, poetry and flowers. The event is open from 11am- 4pm and all are welcome. On the same day there is a ride-and-stride sponsored event which will raise funds for historic and local churches funds.

WAX NIGHT - The Station Inn at Marshbrook is the venue for a wax night on Saturday from 9pm till late with live music and more, raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, the Air Ambulance and Hope House.

RHYMETIME - At the library for the under threes to enjoy fun, rhymes and songs from 10.30am-11am on Tuesday.

COMMUNITY CINEMA - Acton Scott village hall is the venue for the screening of Lincoln (12) on Tuesday.

Tickets are sold at the door and cost £4 for adults and £2 for anyone in fulltime education.

MAYFAIR - The Poetry Café has a theme of Farms and Farming when poems can be read or listened to by those attending. The session takes place from 2.15pm-3.45pm and all are welcome. Mayfair also offers walking for health opportunities suited to ability, and crèche facilities.

LUCKY NUMBERS - In the August lottery were 387, 319, 307 and 250 winning £100, £50, £20 and £10 respectively.

PORTRAIT DRAWING - Frans Wesselman will be offering eight portrait drawing sessions at Church Stretton School from September 25, from 7pm-9pm. Cost is £40 for eight sessions or £7 per session. He is also looking for models of any age or gender and will pay £20 per evening.

TREE GROUP - An illustrated talk on hedge laying by Karl Leibscher will take place at the Methodist hall on Wednesday at 7.30pm, and will be followed by the annual general meeting of the Tree Group.

COMPETITION - Imagination can run riot in turning a shoe box into anything you would like in a competition at Scrappies which is open to the under 11s, 11-16s and 170plus years during this month. Entry is £1 and the box can be filled with scrap items from the store to use in the project. Entries must be submitted by October 3 and prizes for each category will be awarded at the open day on October 5.

GARDENING CLUB - Church Stretton and District Gardening Club will be visiting Highgrove House, home of HRH, The Prince of Wales on Thursday, September 19 and on September 24, there will be a talk by Reg Moule entitled An Evening with Reg at the Silvester Horne Institute as part of the regular programme of talks.

INTERFAITH FORUM - A one hour discussion at the Pilgrim Centre in Craven Arms will take place on Thursday, September 19 from 12 noon.

The subject of the discussion will be Compromise or Compete: Can religions co-exist? Take your sandwiches if you wish. All welcome.

COUNTRY MARKET - The regular country market will be open for business at Mayfair on September 20 from 9.15am-11.45am selling home produced cakes, produce, and crafts.

QUIZ NIGHT - A quiz night for Animal Samaritans based at the Dog Shop will be held at the District Club on September 21, starting at 7.45pm with Ken Willis as question master.

TALK - Vijay Mehta, chairman of Uniting for Peace, will give a talk at Concord College on September 26, from 3.45pm-5.15pm, arranged by the UNA. This will be a thought-provoking talk for an all age audience, including students, in a stimulating environment.
