COUNTRY MARKET - Cakes, produce and crafts are all on offer at the country market held at Mayfair community centre tomorrow (Friday) open from 9.15am-11.45am.

CONCERT - The More Singers together with Richard Walker on piano, Phoebe Rees on viola and the Mynd Wind trio will be presenting a programme of popular classics, favourite light music, opera choruses and famous madrigals at a concert on Saturday at Concord college, Acton Burnell, in aid of Pazappa-Haiti at 7.30pm. Admission is £10 to include a glass of wine.

FOLK DANCE - The monthly folk dance held at Ticklerton village hall will take place on Saturday starting at 8pm. All welcome.

WILDLIFE WALK - Trevor Halsey is leading a wildlife walk at The Bog and Stiperstones on Saturday leaving from the car park near The Bog visitor centre at 10am. To find out more ring 07709 283847.

MAYFAIR LOTTERY - The lucky numbers in the May lottery draw were 274, 357, 392 and 651 winning £100, £50 £20, and £10 respectively. The new lottery year starts this month.

DAY OUT - The gardening club plans an outing to John Massey Ashwood Garden, Kingswinford, on June 26 with an escorted tour of this private garden which includes informal borders, island beds and woodland dells. Rare plants and familiar favourites are featured and the large nursery specialises in hellebores, hardy cyclamen, lewesias, hepaticas and primula aurivulas.

The large plant centre also houses a gift shop with lunches available.

SCHOOL NEWS - Pupils at St Lawrence’s Primary School have been busy with rounders matches, and Kwik Cricket away. There will be a visit to the Crucial Crew during the week.

Church Stretton School leavers have enjoyed a fancy dress last day as they are now only in for their examinations.

A well attended head’s tea party has taken place just before the half term break and the school will now be ready to welcome the French exchange students.

SPONSORED RUN - Elaine at the Post Office is running in the Shrewsbury half marathon in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust and can accept donations to this at the Post Office Counter.

JUMBLE SALE - A jumble sale in aid of Rose Cottage Cat rescue will take place on June 22, at the parish centre from 2pm-3.30pm. Donations of items for the sale may be taken along during the morning of the sale.

GARDEN TRAIL - The annual garden trail at Cardington village will be on June 23 from 12 noon to 6pm where there will be ten gardens open to visitors. Admission to the event is £5, no charge for children.

STRAWBERRY TEA - A strawberry tea will be held on June 24 at the URC hall and garden in aid of church funds. The event will be open from 2.15pm to 3.45pm and costs £3.50.

GARDEN PARTY - A garden party at The Orchard, Ryton, near Dorrington is planned for June 29, from 1.30pm - 4pm. There will also be stalls selling refreshments, plants, books, bric-abrac, cards, and cakes. A ring and ride service is available and reservations should be made by ringing 01694 722077.

FESTIVAL - Tickets for the 47th Church Stretton arts festival are now on sale for the many events taking place, which include The Cardinall’s Musick, Tony Davey as Buddy Holly, The Shakespeare Ladies Club, Marylebone Wind Trio, Anthony Brown - Saxophone, Tim Brooke-Taylor and Chris Serle, Katona Twins guitar duo, The Frith Piano Quintet, The Last Man in Europe, School’s Out, Teatime Concert with Robin Ward, David Rees- Williams Trio and the London Festival Opera. Events run from July 27 - August 11.
