TALK - An audio visual presentation by Ian and Hilary Templeton will take a look at The Heart of Europe featuring Germany, Austria and northern Italy at Ticklerton village hall tomorrow (Friday) at 7.30pm. There will be themed refreshments and admission is £6.50 for adults and £3.50 for those of school age. MUSIC NIGHTS - Saturday is music night at the District Social Club with Kev and Dave. Admission is £4 with no admittance after 10.30pm. Blues Boy Dan will be at the King’s Arms on March 1 from 9pm.

CHORAL EVENSONG - All welcome at the choral evensong taking place at St Andrew’s church in Hope Bowdler from 3.30pm - 4.30pm on Sunday.

HISTORY GROUP - The local history group will be meeting at the URC at 2.30pm on Monday for a talk by Barbara Parnell, under the heading The Poor Laws and The Workhouse in Church Stretton. All welcome.

BIRDS - Keith Offord‘s talk on Skydancers will be about harriers when the Onithological Society meets on Monday at the Methodist hall at 7.30pm. Visitors are welcome, admission is £2 including refreshment.

GARDENING CLUB - The meeting on Tuesday will be the annual general meeting of the gardening club which will start at 7pm in the Silvester Horne Institute. After the business of the meeting Martin Ford will be giving a talk on Labour Saving Gardening.

Admission for visitors is £2.

FLOWER CLUB - Tuesday is also the date for the flower club meeting and on this occasion Margaret Rumens has called her demonstration Serendipity.

The meeting will be at 7.30pm in All Stretton village hall and is open to visitors.

WILDLIFE GROUP - The Strettons Area Community Wildlife Group would like to hear from anyone interested in doing something to help conserve the threatened species living on our doorsteps. It offers a chance to meet like-minded people, have fun and learn new skills while spending a few hours a year undertaking surveys of threatened species and habitats. SCHOOL NEWS - Three teams from St Lawrence’s took part in the Winter Games at RAF Cosford, coming away in third place overall. The Quiz Club team impressed with their general knowledge when they visited Greenacres primary school resulting in a win for St Lawrence’s. Swimming trials and a music workshop will be featured after half term. The Friends of the School have changed the date of the Easter fun day to April 20.

At Church Stretton school the Students Charity Sub-Committee has been selling red roses for St Valentine’s Day and raising funds for the Telford Severn Hospice which took care of teacher Mrs Lin Halfpenny. Students have achieved success in English indoor rowing and public speaking and there have been successes in rugby.

LADIES HOCKEY - Ludlow Hockey Club is running an eight week course for ladies of all ages at Moor Park school (SY8 4DZ) on Monday evenings between 7.30pm-8.30pm, starting on Monday at a cost of £3 per session (although Monday will be a free unpaid session). PANTOMIME - All Stretton Amateur Dramatic and Social Society presented Rumpelstiltskin at the village hall last week. The society wishes to thank everyone who has helped with the production and all those who have attended and supported each performance.

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER - There will be a service at St Milburga’s church at 10.30am on March 1 to mark Women’s World day of Prayer.
