SURGERY - Coun Lee Chapman will be holding a surgery at Ley Gardens on Friday from 10am-12 noon.

TABLETOP SALE - A table top sale is planned for Saturday at Leebotwood village hall from 10am-1pm in aid of the church. Fee per table is £5 and the number to ring is 01694 722970. A further sale is planned for March 9.

QUIZ NIGHT - Ken Willis will host a quiz night at the district social club on Saturday night from 7.45pm raising funds for fighting blindness.

PIT STOP - Another chance to enjoy an afternoon of crafts, games and fun with a Valentine’s theme at the parish centre from 3pm-5pm on Sunday.

CANCER CARE - The next meeting of Stretton and Shropshire Cancer Care will be on Monday when Doreen Hall will be asking ‘what’s your month been like?’. There will then be a chance for everyone to be involved in the discussion about their own cancer journey and to put forward their hopes, fears and hints on managing which may help others. The meeting will take place at Mayfair community centre at 2.30pm.

NHS TALK - Dr Caron Morton will be the speaker at a meeting in the parish centre on Wednesday at 2.30pm when the subject of her talk will be The Future of our NHS. Light refreshments will be available. All are welcome.

AGM - The Friday Country Market will be holding its annual general meeting at Mayfair on Wednesday at 2.30pm.

COMMUNITY CINEMA - Other films on the circuit include Pretty Woman (15) at Hope Bowdler village hall on Wednesday and as there is limited seating it would be wise to book in early. On February 19, at Acton Scott village hall the film will be Mao’s Last Dancer (PG), and on March 4, at Church Stretton school Untouchable (15) will be shown as part of the Borderlines 2013 festival. Doors open at 7pm and films start at 7.30pm in all venues. Admission is £4 for adults.

PANTOMINE - It’s pantomime at All Stretton village hall next week when Rumplestiltskin will be staged from February 14 -16 nightly at 7.30pm and with a matinee of Saturday afternoon, February 16 at 2pm. Admission is £4 for adults and £2.50 for children.

SMALLHOLDERS - A provisional date for the next meeting of the Shropshire Smallholders is planned for Thursday, February 14 at Leebotwood village hall when the talk will be about vegetable growing, starting at 7.30pm.

SCHOOL NEWS - Our schools are again collecting Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers so drop them into the school if you have some. The scheme runs until May 22 and the vouchers can be used to provide sports equipment for the schools. St. Lawrence’s is still looking for relief lunchtime supervisors to call upon in cases of absence, so If you are interested please contact the school office. The primary school entered two teams of children in an indoor athletic competition held at Church Stretton school where they took part in a range of track, field and relay events against three other schools. The White team came in joint second place while the Red team won the competition and went on to a regional final in Ludlow. Still on the sporting front there will be a cross country event at Lucton school. A visit to Birmingham Botanic Gardens is planned.

MARMALADIES - On February 14 there will be a pole dancing demonstration by Sonia Allcock at the meeting of Marmaladies, a new Church Stretton Women’s Institute group meeting at Church Stretton school at 7.30pm.
