LUCKY NUMBERS - December lottery for Mayfair: 446, 204, 485 and 430, winning £100, £50, £20 and £10 respectively. The Church Stretton School’s PTA 200 Club lucky numbers for November were 85, 145 and 177, and for December were 80, 57 and 115.

Prize money for the 200 Club winners was £20, £10 and £5 respectively.

SCHOOL NEWS - Both schools have a PD day on Monday, with pupils starting the new term on Tuesday.

At St Lawrence’s Primary School pupils will be welcoming headteacher Mr Langford, returning after a period of absence.

Church Stretton School students have taken part in educational trips during the past term including a creative arts trip to London, a visit to Jordan and a skiing trip.

Some year 11 students have attended a forum organised by the Church Stretton branch of the UNA to further their studies in humanities on the Arab/Israeli conflict, following a visit from the former UK ambassador to the UN, Sir Jeremy Greenstock, to Church Stretton .

Church Stretton School is looking for a few examination invigilators to work on a casual basis. A CRB check would be arranged and full details are available from the school. The D of E leader has put out a plea for donations of unwanted backpacks which could be loaned out to participating students, and would like to hear from anyone who can help.

Church Stretton School’s newly designed website is now ready so all information about the school can easily be accessed.

COMMUNITY CINEMA - The first film of the New Year to be shown at Church Stretton School will be Moonrise Kingdom (12A), on Monday, while at Hope Bowdler Villlage Hall The Iron Lady (12A) will be shown on Wednesday. Doors open at 7pm and all films start at 7.30pm and have refreshments available.

LISTENING TIME - This library session for adults is planned for Tuesday from 11am-noon with the theme Childhood Memories. Admission is free.

CHURCH STRETTON WI - The group welcomes visitors to its meeting at the Silvester Horne Institute at 7.15pm on Tuesday when there will be a talk entitled A Surprise for Someone.

AGM - The Shropshire Smallholders’ Group will be holding its annual general meeting at Leebotwood Village Hall next Thursday, January 10, at 7.30pm and nominations for the chairman and secretary are invited.

PITSTOP - St Laurence’s has another Pitstop Day in mind for Sunday, January 13, from 3pm-5pm with games, crafts, songs and a meal all on the agenda. Ring 01694 722588 to find out more.

DAD’S BIG BREAKFAST - This event is planned for Saturday, January 19, from 8.30am-10am when dads can share breakfast, games and time with their children and also meet other dads and their children.

The cost is £3.50 for dads and 50p per child. Reserve a place by ringing 01694 723880.

TUESDAY CLUB - The Tuesday Club provides a day out for older local people who will be able to enjoy a hot cooked lunch and entertainment together with the company of others.

NEW SEASON’S COURSES - A 10- week beginners’ course in Italian will start on Monday, January 14, from 6pm-7.30pm at Church Stretton School.
