Bishop’s Castle Town Council wonders what has happened to the CCTV cameras promised by South Shropshire District Council for the waste recycling centre at Crowgate.
Councillor Neil Hird said he believed the system had been bought at a cost of £8,000 but had not yet been erected by the SSDC.
“The problem of flytipping at Crowgate needs to be urgently tackled and I wonder if the town council could monitor the scheme when it is set up,” he asked.
Mayor Jim Gaffney said he would look into the cost implications of this and inquire about the whereabouts of the CCTV cameras.
The mayor added that the theft of metal gates to the recycling centre had not helped the problem of dumping.
