JOHN Glover, the local Poppy Appeal organiser, reports that the Bishop's Castle branch of the Royal British Legion raised a total of £4,574 with their 2016 Poppy Appeal.
The group would like to thank everyone who supported this effort by selling poppies door to door around the Bishop's Castle area, collecting a total of £1354.
In addition, local retailers and publicans also found space on their shop and bar counters for the Poppy Appeal boxes which raised £1,495, while The Community College, Bishop's Castle Primary School and Norbury Primary School collected a total of £460.
Bishop's Castle Army Cadets collected £445 outside the Bishop's Castle Pharmacy on November 5 and 12, the gazebo kindly loaned by Nicki Simpson.
