THE Knighton Show and Carnival committee raised around £2,500 from their fireworks evening on November 5.

A large number of people turned out to see the huge bonfire burning and lots of colourful fireworks.

There was also a Guy Fawkes competition 1st prize went to Mary Gerrard, 2nd Sue Davies with the Minion and 3rd Knighton Cubs. The Guys with the other entries were placed at the front of the huge bonfire.

The Knighton Show and Carnival costs around £25,000 to put on each year, this includes insurances, show day entertainments and fireworks.

All the money is raised locally either by generous sponsorship from local businesses or fund raising events.

The committee is always looking for new members to keep Knighton's biggest annual event going. They are holding their AGM on Thursday, November 17 in the RAFA club at 7.30pm and are looking forward to welcoming new members or helpers to the committee. Mat O'Rourke show committee chairman, thanked everyone for helping at the fireworks, their sponsors and all the people who came to watch. He added "We really need new committee members to keep the show and events like the fireworks evening going well into the future. Please come to the AGM if you can".
