THERE was a busy day of activity to try to save a threatened leisure facility in Bishop's Castle.

Most unusual was a sheep sale in which ewes were invited to stop bleating about the threat to SpArC and to help raise funds.

There was a sale at the livestock market in the town in which farmers had the chance to donate a sheep for sale.

More conventional was a table-top sale and a chance to get the car cleaned at Bishop's Castle Public Hall.

The SpArC is threatened with closure because of cuts to the Shropshire Council budget although it has been given a temporary reprieve with funding promised for at least another year.
