PRIMARY schools have been kept busy undertaking two engineering challenges set by the Creative Arts and Technology faculty at Bishop's Castle Community College.
The challenges started in October when primary school staff attended an after school training session held within the design and technology workshops at the college.
Primary teachers and support staff were introduced to the challenges and spent the evening receiving training which guided them through the requirements of the two challenges.
Each competing school were provided with a starter kit which contained materials required to undertake the challenges. Funding for these kits was kindly provided by the South Shropshire Learning Trust.
Support has also been provided within school to those undertaking the challenge by the South Shropshire Engineering Ambassadors.
Both challenges involved designing and building vehicles. The aim of the programme is that boys and girls, from an early age, will aspire to become designers and makers – the engineers of the future.
