A MAJOR figure in the art world is exhibiting in Bishops Castle.

He is Keith Noble who will be showing some of his work at Bishops Castle Town Hall until Saturday (March 12).

Art lovers will be able to view a collection of 32 of his watercolours.

Keith Noble is well established on the national art scene and in 2005 he was elected an ARSMA (Associate of Royal Society of Marine Artists).

Four years later he was elected a member of the RSMA and he has recently been elected a member of the RBSA (Royal Birmingham Society of Artists).

A Shropshire artist, he has been a regular exhibitor at the Silk Top Hat Gallery in Ludlow since 1996.

Keith Noble describes himself as a modern traditionalist; the effects of light, shade and atmosphere are essential to his work.

Inspiration for architectural subjects comes from visits to Oxford and London which he visits regularly if the weather is favourable, but he comments that Oxford is particularly good in the rain as there are secluded areas with paving slabs which give much more effective reflections than the ubiquitous tarmac!

Some of his smaller paintings are done on the spot while with larger works he comes back to the studio with sketches and photographic references.
