PUPILS from Ludlow Junior School received the red carpet treatment when a film they had produced was given a big screen premiere in Shrewsbury.

The youngsters had front row seats for the first showing of their short film – about zombies taking over the school.

Seven to 11-year-olds, all members of the school’s film club, received some guidance from the ‘See It Make It’ arts project but the end result was all their own work.

There was some real life drama as the children boarded the bus - some lunches had accidentally been taken to Manchester with a group of year fours on a field study trip.

Luckily 'Superwoman', in the shape of school cook Michelle Wear, flew to the rescue and more food was quickly prepared.

The Chase was one of only four films chosen for an exclusive screening, with ‘director’ Harry Brisbane explaining that it had been hard work but great fun.

“We had to shoot some scenes three times but it was worth it in the end. I’d like to make some more films in the future,” said Harry, a year six student.

The youngsters learnt about editing and camera angles and added music from the school’s i-pads to emphasise the scary atmosphere.

They all received certificates and badges for their efforts and the year six pupils involved will now be passing on their expertise to class mates as they get to work on their next piece; a short, animated film using i-motion techniques.

“The children have shown great imagination and learn a lot about working as a team,” said year six year teacher, Nicola Grant.
