ONE of the few remaining Liberal Democrat MPs is visiting Ludlow this evening.
Mark Williams, MP for Ceredigion, is visiting Ludlow as guest speaker at the Liberal Democrat post-election party to thank those people who helped in Charlotte Barnes’ general election bid.
“Ludlow’s reputation for grass roots activity is very high,” said Mr Williams, one of just eight Liberal Democrat MPs to be returned at the General Election.
“It is the largest party in the West Midlands. Charlotte has very quickly made a name for herself in the party. Her result was the third highest Liberal Democrat vote in the whole of the West Midlands.”
Councillor Barnes said that the guest speaker had secured a huge achievement.
“To keep his seat against such a disappointing national background is a terrific achievement,” said Cllr Barnes who represents Bishop's Castle on Shropshire Council.
“We shall hope he tells us not just why we lost support but how to win.”
