A NEW shop has opened next to the Town Hall in Bishop's Castle at Number 1 Market Steps. Sheep-ish specialises in woollen yarn, sheep themed crafts and pottery with everything on sale produced in the UK. Owner Sally Petch aims to support British farmers and she also runs craft courses and regular 'craft and chat' get-togethers at the shop. Sally says she has always had a soft spot for sheep and as well as owning her own animals, she has been accepted as a member of the prestigious Campaign for British Wool. Sheep-ish sells raw fleeces from different breeds and customers can sign up for weaving and spinning classes, with an introduction to yarn spinning with Shirley Ewell on June 9 at 10am. The day costs £40 to include materials. Individual spinning lessons are also on offer from Shirley at a cost of £15 for an hour's tuition. Every Thursday Sally Petch has a 'craft and chat' morning which runs from 10am to 11.30am. There is no charge and you are welcome to bring your own craft project to work on or get some inspiration from other people. Refreshments will be served. On June 6 Anne from the Handweaving Company will be demonstrating peg loom weaving at a pop-in workshop which is also free. Sally sells a variety of British wool yarn and she is happy to put wool aside for customers to buy on a pay as you go basis. Sheep-ish is open from 9.30am to 5pm, closed on Wednesday and Sunday.
