COLLEAGUES at Midcounties Co-operative Food stores throughout Worcestershire have been raising money for Comic Relief as part of Friday's Red Nose Day celebrations.

Fifteen food stores in the region, were all involved on the day with colleagues donating money to take part in fancy dress, bake sales and making their faces funny for money. They raised a total of £2,270.

Comic Relief, which was established in 1988, aims to support community projects both in the UK and abroad and this year's theme centred around 'doing something funny for money'.

Bob Richens, district manager at The Midcounties Co-operative Food, said: "We are committed to supporting the local community and fundraising for Comic Relief allows us to raise vital funds for important projects both abroad and closer to home.

"Getting involved in Red Nose Day is a great way to have fun at the same time as raising money and the store teams really enjoyed it. The support from our customers throughout Red Nose Day was fantastic and we'd like to thank them for getting involved and cheering us on."
