PUPILS from a school near Tenbury have enjoyed a successful year for scholarships and awards.

Children from Abberley Hall School won a total of 31 scholarships and exhibitions. These final year pupils, aged 13, will now take up places at some of the country’s leading independent schools this month.

John Walker, headmaster of Abberley Hall, which has around 140 boarders aged between seven and 13, said he was delighted with the success achieved in his final year. He retires from the school this term after 18 years of service.

“This has been a wonderful year for scholarship success and the results are a great tribute to the hard work and commitment of both the staff and children here,” he said.

“A large proportion of the awards are for purely academic achievement, which is especially pleasing, but many students have also won accolades for music, sports and art.

“All our final year pupils have all contributed greatly to the success of the school and we wish them every success in the future.”
