SHROPSHIRE firefighters joined churchgoers and a family support group in a united car cleaning effort which raised more than £600 for their three charities.
Armed with buckets and sponges, they washed more than 50 cars on Harry Tuffin's car park in Ludlow backed with free refreshments from the nearby Squirrel pub.
Also helping were youngsters from the South Shropshire youth forum.
Ludlow firefighter Steve Perks said that 25 volunteers took part in the joint fundraiser.
"It was a fantastic opportunity for all our organisations to come together to raise funds for good causes."
The money will be shared between the Firefighters Charity, Home Start in south Shropshire and for Hope 2014 with south Shropshire churches uniting their efforts as part of a national church campaign to transform local communities.
