A FORMER pupil at Tenbury High School and now a medical student is still raising money after completing the London Marathon.

Sian Cree, who run the marathon in support of Scope, is continuing to look for donations following her successful completion of the course in the capital.

Sian, who is aged 20, is studying medicine at the University of Leicester where she is currently in the third year of five.

She was at Tenbury High School for the five years, from 2004 to 2009, and then went on to Worcester Sixth Form College before going to university.

“I decided to run for scope as a friend was running with me and she had a brother who had cerebral palsy who sadly died,” said Sian.

“He would have benefitted from Scope's work with the disabled. Also studying medicine means I have seen a lot of disabled people, and have seen how important charities and volunteers are in helping people in their day-to-day lives.

“We finished the marathon in four hours and 24 minutes.

“My mum is a teacher at the high school and she was there cheering me on. The school raised over £260 for my marathon fundraising.”

Scope is a charity that provides a range of support for people with disabilities and those that care for them.

This includes befriending and community support that can include helping to cope with emotional problems and solving problems.

Scope can also offer help to people who may need assistance to help them be able to stay at home where appropriate.

It also helps people with education, fostering and housing where there may be special needs.

There are also short breaks available and to help people lead independent lives Scope help providing and signposting people to suitable training.
