Clows Top and District Gardening Club

MARCH can be a tricky month weatherwise, with sunshine one day, hard frost the next and often very windy. However, the daylight hours are getting longer and the ground is warming up. Daffodils and spring bulbs are giving fabulous displays. If time and weather permits try and do some weeding. You will benefit from this early start later in the year.

At the January meeting Rachel, a florist based at Mawley Oak garage, gave a demonstration of hand-tied bouquets. It was lovely to watch an artist at work – she made it look so easy and explained everything at each stage of the arrangement. Members found it very inspiring to try something themselves at home.

On the evening of November 7, Kidderminster hosted the annual inter-club quiz for the Jim Greenhow Shield. There were four teams represented from Astley, Bewdley, Clows Top and Kidderminster. Congratulations were given to the Clows Top team for winning the shield with a brilliant performance. If you’re not a member then you can join in at one of the monthly meetings. It’s a great opportunity for you to share your thoughts, ideas and advice with other members. The group has a great programme of speakers as well as evening visits to local gardens and an annual coach trip to Barnsdale Gardens in June.

The next meeting will be on March 26, and the evening will be the spring show and inter-club quiz, hosted by Derek Walker.
