40 YEARS SERVICE - Bishops Castle Juliet Slavin said goodbye to her colleagues and friends at a party in the library on July 17.

Juliet has worked for Shropshire Libraries for over 40 years, starting her career in 1967. At the party she was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Sue Midwood, the chairman of the Friends of Bishops Castle Library.

Tribute was also paid to Juliet by Elaine Moss, the area manager for Shropshire Libraries who thanked Juliet for her service to the county.

QUIT SMOKING - Bishops Castle Pharmacy has added another service to its successful Help 2 Quit stop smoking programme.

A test is available for smokers to test the age of their lungs by blowing into a special piece of equipment. It is available to use every Thursday from 9.30am to 2pm.

BRIDAL FASHION EVENING - Castle Brides invites you to a wedding fashion show in Bishops Castle public hall on August 2. Starting at 7.30pm the evening is in aid of the children’s cancer unit at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and as well as a catwalk show there will be stalls including Jane’s Petals and Gifts, Bubbles the hair stylist, Jacko’s of craven Arms and many more. SUMMER FAIR - The Friends of Bishops Castle Primary School raised £701 at their recent summer fair. Committee member Sarah Evans thanks everyone for their donations of prizes and for coming along to support the event.

SUMMER TEA PARTY - Lydbury North WI held a tea party on July 6 in the garden of Elsie Corfield, one of their members. A raffle in support of Lydbury North Church was well supported and raised over £100, while the tea made £385 for WI funds.

Lydbury North WI meets next on September 19 when Dave Thomlinson will talk about home insulation. The meeting is in Edgton village Hall at 7.15pm. Call 01588 680264.
