A TRIP to the flicks can now involve a visit to Tenbury Methodist Church.

It’s the latest venue for films in the town.

Newly licensed to show DVDs to the public the church is taking the opportunity to offer its facilities to the community.

Already dates and publicity have gone out for the Family Film Club and it is planned to show classics as well.

Limitations of the licence mean that they cannot specify the film due to be shown on a particular date, but the church can let people know the type of film and any age guidance.

The Family Film Club will focus on U and Uc classification which includes animated fun.

“We are not setting ourselves up against the Regal – which will have great facilities when finished – all our films will already be available on DVD,” said Rev Helen Roberts who is co-ordinating the film shows, “However, we aim to offer an entertainment option that is low cost and local – both important in these belt-tightened times.”

Entry is by donation and the Family Film Club has a mixture of Saturday morning sessions planned as well as shows at half term and over the summer.

Watch out for the banner outside the church at Cross Street, contact Rev Helen on 01584 819649 or join Tenbury Family Film Club on facebook for dates.

The next show is on Saturday May 26.
