TWO young Ludlow actors will get the chance to take to the stage in the centrepiece of the town’s arts festival in the summer.

Actor turned director Charlie Walker-Wise, pictured, who returns to the Ludlow Festival this year to direct Much Ado About Nothing and production manager Alex Weller, have announced an opportunity for two young actors in the Ludlow area to star on stage in the production, as well as the chance for two people to work behind the scenes on the play.

Charlie will cast two local young actors from an open audition workshop to be held at The Charlton Arms on Sunday April 15 at 11.30am.

All budding actors aged 16-20 who live, work or study in the Ludlow area are welcome to attend the free workshop. Two actors will be chosen from the workshop to take part in this year’s production and will join the rest of the cast for a day’s rehearsal in London and in the Ludlow rehearsal period before joining them on stage for the show’s two week run.

The workshop is free and there’s no need to register beforehand, just turn up on the day wearing comfortable clothes.

"This is an amazing opportunity for a budding actor,” said Charlie Walker- Wise.

“The opportunity to work with a professional cast and crew, and perform in a full-scale professional production is a rare one.”

Also on offer will be two work experience technical roles in lighting and sound.

Young people aged 16 and over that are interested in the technical roles should join production manager Alex Weller at The Charlton Arms snug area from 11.00-11.45am on Sunday, April 15 in Ludlow.

Anyone interested must work, study or live in the Ludlow area – no experience necessary just enthusiasm and an interest in lighting or sound.

The work experience roles will mean that two locals will get a chance to work behind the scenes on the play in the lead up to, during and after the show’s run.

Ludlow Festival runs from Saturday 23 June through to Sunday 8 July at various venues in and around Ludlow.

Priority booking is open to Friends of Ludlow Festival in advance of tickets going on sale to the general public.
