St Martins 4 Tenbury United 4

TEN-MAN Tenbury fought back from 4-1 down midway through the second half to rescue their first West Midlands League Division 2 point of the season.

Colin Powell’s heroes were inspired by play-maker Mike Foster, who scored once and set-up another two goals.

United hit three goals in a remarkable 10-minute spell to leave the Shropshire outfit shell-shocked.

St Martins had earlier missed a spot-kick in an absorbing clash.

Due to a players’ shortage Tenbury fielded only 10 players.

Tenbury’s fightback started when Ryan Morris played the ball across goal for Powell to curl into the far corner.

For the next goal, Aaron Morris hit a free-kick forward and Foster drilled the ball home when the Saints defence failed to clear the danger.

Soon afterwards, Foster laid the ball across goal for Paul Smith to score and complete the recovery.

The distraught home side were unable to break through a rejuvenated United defence during the final 10 minutes.

Earlier, Tenbury opted to sit back and soak up the pressure from the first whistle. The tactic looked to be working when Foster played the ball through for George Pearson to run on to and score.

However, it went downhill from this point. The gap might well have been g reater had the Saints not blazed a penalty over the bar.
