Reman Services 198-6 Ludlow 134-3 (winning draw for Ludlow)

LUDLOW need just one more point from their last two games to guarantee their place in the Marston’s Shropshire County Premier League for next season after they pulled off a surprise result against title-favourites Reman at the Burway on Saturday.

After restricting the Shrewsburybased side to 198-6 in 50 overs, rain at the tea interval meant that Ludlow would only face 32 overs in the second innings.

While they still needed 199 to win the match, it left Ludlow needing to score 127 to earn a winning draw.

They lost a wicket to the third ball and a second with the score on 14.

Baden Wilton joined Sam Edwards (60) in a 89-run stand to repair the damage before Edwards departed.

Rob Genner (12 not out off 11 balls) helped Wilton (44 not out) to pass the required target John Wigley (74no) was the mainstay of the Reman innings, while Wilton (2-42) and Louis Watkins (2-34) were the most successful bowlers for Ludlow.

Meanwhile, former first-team captain Pete Ezard shone against his old club, destoying the Ludlow 2nd’s innings in the league match at Reman on Saturday.

He finished with 8-17 as Ludlow were bowled out for just 67.

Reman went on to claim a comfortable eight-wicket win.
