Ludlow 237-9 Albrighton 243-3 LUDLOW appeared to be in a strong position at tea in their Marston’s Shropshire Premier League match at Albrighton after their batsmen had rattled up 237-9 in their 50 overs.

However, an Albrighton secondwicket stand of 180 between Steve Cowie and Mark Bissell made light work of the runchase.

And the home side cantered to victory with 4.3 overs and seven wickets to spare.

Richard Taylor and Baden Wilton gave Ludlow a flying start to their innings after they had lost the toss.

Taylor (43 including eight fours) was bowled by Joe Roberts at 92 and Wilton (47 including eight fours and one six) went soon after.

The scoring rate dropped for a while until Jack Griffiths (38 off 41 balls) and Dave Proctor (28 off 21) added 51 for the fifth wicket.

Wickets tumbled from this point but Ludlow still managed to post a competitive total.

Dave Proctor claimed a wicket with the eighth ball of the Albrighton innings to give Ludlow a dream start.

But Albrighton repaired their innings and Ludlow had to wait until the score was 186 before they tasted their second success.

Cowie fell to Sam Edwards having just reached three figures at nearly a run-a-ball.

Bissell went on to make 84 before losing his wicket with victory in sight. Kohan Carruthers- Taylor, who had conceded 29 runs off his three overs at the top of the Ludlow innings, claimed sweet revenge, by clouting 25 runs off just 16 balls to sweep his side to victory.
