Tenbury Wells 163 Alveley 98 IN a match reduced to 27 overs per side, Zack Yarranton produced a key allround performance to help Tenbury complete their successful Worcestershire League Division 4 campaign with a 65-run win over Alveley at Penlu.

The win preserves their unbeaten run at home this season and means they have now lost just one game at their headquarters during Jonathan Pearson’s three-year period as captain.

After Ed Corfield (40) had got the innings off to a blistering start, last man Yarranton came in with his side struggling on 118-9, but dominated a last-wicket partnership of 45 with his skipper Pearson (30no), before being run out in the final over for 27.

Yarranton then opened the bowling and, in partnership with Corfield (2- 27), dismissed the first six batsmen cheaply, taking 4-45 in his nine overs.

His father Mark (2-2) then took over to dismiss the dangerous Josh Bent (55) and, along with Jack Farrar (2- 15), swept Tenbury to a comfortable win in 24 overs.

􀁪 Tenbury 2nd made it a double celebration with an easy seven-wicket win at Alveley.

They dismissed the home side for 148 and then swept to victory in the 28th over for the loss of just three wickets.

Grant Waldron (33) and Jamie Garbett (56) put the home side in a decent position before Ian Taylor (4- 25) and Neil Crump (2-30) teamed up to destroy the back end of their innings.

Chris Giles (30), Darren Thompson (14) and Taylor (15) gave the Tenbury reply a useful start, but it was the entry of Crump which confirmed Tenbury’s superiority.

He carved his way to 53 and was in partnership with Derek James (13no) when the final run was scored.
