TENBURY Wells’ first team followed in the footsteps of the club’s second string by securing the title with a comfortable victory.

Last week, Tenbury 2nd wrapped up the Division Four 2nd XI league and now their colleagues can celebrate being first-team league champions by beating Brintons.

Three wickets apiece from Edward Corfield and Alexander Mason fired Tenbury to victory after setting the opposition 190 to win.The visitors lost Neil Waldron to the bowling of Bruce Mason for one before Corfield and Mason took centre stage.

Between them they dismissed most of the middle and lower order to wrap up a 77-run victory.

The final three opposition wickets fell for ducks.

Earlier, Brintons bowlers had also been on top with Craig Homer’s 4-55 helping dismiss Tenbury for 189.

Opener Andrew Adams (45) led the way while Mason (41) also contributed before a lower-order collapse saw them lose their last eight wickets for just 82 runs.

It was a case of after the Lord Mayor’s Show for Tenbury 2nd who went down by four wickets to Brintons 2nd.

Derek James (38) and Lewis Giles (39) were the only shining lights in Tenbury’s total of 162 all out.

The home side knocked off the required runs for the loss of six wickets, despite Mark Yarranton’s 3-40.
