THE Tenbury batsmen were in top form at Himley, but their gigantic total still looked vulnerable while Waqas Ahmed was at the wicket for the home side.

Aaron Morris eventually caught him off Ian Bowkett and the visitors went on to gain a comfortable 119-run win, and with other results going their way, now lead Division 4 of the Worcestershire County League by 27 points.

Andy Adams and Ian Bowkett (55) set the tone for the day with a partnership of 118 for the second wicket, after they had lost an early wicket. Bruce Mason (45) carried on the good work, helping Adams to take the score past 200.

The visitors lost two quick wickets, including Adams (85), before a late blitz saw them add over 100 runs in the final 10 overs.

Tom Rawlings (49) joined forces with Karl Baker (20) and then Morris (29) during this onslaught but, once they were out, wickets tumbled quickly and Tenbury were bowled out in 49 overs.

Opener Ahmed swung his bat to good effect but the only other batsmen to reach double figures was number eight Elliott Hopkin (14). When Bowkett (3-41) got rid of Ahmed for 137 the contest was over. Morris (4-52) and Jack Farrar (2-2) swept away the tail, and Himley were bowled out in 45 overs.

􀁥 Tenbury 2nd were in prime form as well, chasing down Himley 4th's 166-9 with eight wickets and three overs to spare at Penlu. They now head their table by 34 points.

Batting first, a number of the Himley batsmen reached double figures, but number seven Thomas Wall (59no) was the only one to pass 20. Kier Sellars (3-52) and Jim Yeomans (2-27) bowled well for Tenbury.

Chris Giles carried his bat when Tenbury batted, reaching his fourth halfcentury in five innings and sharing match-winning alliances with Sellars (40) and David Hunt (28).

Tenbury reached their target in the 42nd over with Giles unbeaten on 61 (including 11 fours).
