A PARAGLIDER has been airlifted to hospital after he ended up in a tree in Shropshire last Friday (June 24).

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called near to the junction of the A49 and Ludlow Road, Little Stretton, Church Stretton, at 12.50pm.

An ambulance and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford were sent to the scene.

Claire Thomas, press officer for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: “On arrival crews found a man lying underneath a tree. His paragliding harness and canopy were further up in the tree.

“It is believed the man had landed some way up in the tree and whilst he was attempting to climb down he fell approximately 20 feet to the ground.

“The man, in his 50s, suffered minor cuts and bruises and suspected leg and pelvic injuries."

Crews treated the man for his injuries and immobilised him with a neck collar and spinal board as a precaution before he was flown to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
