TENBURY suffered their first Worcestershire County League Division 4 defeat of the season when Brintons chased down a decent total against the visitors’ under-strength bowling attack at Chainwire Sports Ground.

Tenbury drop to second in the table, a point behind Stourbridge Social.

Tenbury lost two early wickets when they batted first after losing the toss. Jay da Costa (46) and Tom Rawlings added 85 for the third wicket.

When Rawlings (44) and Karl Baker (19) were dismissed, Tenbury slipped to 142-6 before Ed Corfield (36) and Aaron Morris (32) helped boost the final total to 233.

Brintons’ openers took full advantage of a few dropped catches to post an opening partnership of 153 before Andy Maiden (72) was caught behind off Joe Reynolds.

Steve Parker blasted the ball to all parts. He smote 29 off one Aaron Morris over, including sixes off the first four balls, before falling for 61 to the Reynolds (2-39) /Jay da Costa combination with victory in sight.

Stuart (81) had been run out by Jack Farrar minutes earlier, and Ed Corfield (3-79) took three quick wickets before Brintons got home in the 47th over.

TENBURY 2nd still top their Division after a winning draw against Brintons 2nd at Penlu.

They scored 260-3 and then restricted the visitors to 200-7.

Kier Sellars carried his bat for 89 and received good support from Darren Thompson (35) and then Chris Giles (68).

Jim Yeomans (3-32) and Adrian Edwards (2-56) were the pick of the Tenbury bowlers
