BELEAGUERED Aaron Morris was left high and dry on 41 not out in Tenbury’s dramatic tie.

The thrilling draw against Martley at Penlu on Saturday sees Tenbury remain top of their league.

Earlier George Pearson took 5- 52 and his early wickets reduced Martley to 33-3 after skipper Jon Pearson had won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Pat Bibby, Martley’s star batsman, took full advantage of an early life and went on to make 86 before Morris bowled him with the score on 162-5.

George Pearson and Morris (2- 36) sliced through the lower order and Martley were bowled out in the 46th over.

Tenbury were in early trouble with the bat themselves in this Division 4 Worcestershire County League match, slipping to 24-3 and then 45-4, before battling performances from the middle order appeared to have put them in control.

Tom Rawlings (28) helped Jon Pearson (22) take the score towards three figures before holing out from a full toss.

Andy Adams (35) and Morris featured in a seventh-wicket stand of 48 which took the score to 163-7.

James Basford (5-36) came back into the attack and took the final wicket of Gareth Edwards with the scores level, leaving the unlucky Morris marooned on 41.

Tenbury seconds went marching on at the top of their division with an easy nine-wicket win at Martley’s Jewry Field.

They produced a top performance in the field to restrict the home side to 140-6 in their 45-over innings and then knocked the runs off in 27.1 overs for the loss of just one wicket.

Adrian Edwards (2-19), Steve Giles (2-35 off 12) and Ian Taylor (2-31) did the damage with the ball, while openers Chris Giles and Dar ren Thompson both completed half centuries.

Cleobury Mortimer bowed out of the Persimmons National Village Knockout competition when they went down by 103 runs to Quatt at The Cricket Pitch in an area quarter-final tie.

Eugene McCarney scored a massive 141 off 122 balls to help Quatt make 252-5 with James Manley and Dave Shorter taking two wickets apiece.

Michael Green (30) top-scored for Cleobury who were bowled out for 149, with Dave Shorter, Ben Grif fiths and Luke Woodhouse all topping 20.
