Amblecote & Wollaston 193 Tenbury 111-8

TENBURY were saved when rain ended play with nearly 20 overs still to be bowled.

They were fighting a rear-guard action at the time and readily settled for the losing draw at Amblecote in Division 4 of the Worcestershire County League.

George Pearson made an early breakthrough when Tenbury won the toss and elected to field.

Amblecote skipper Ross Parker made an electric start to the innings and the score had raced along to 70-2 after 10 overs.

Jack Farrar and, especially, Ed Corfield put the brakes on the scoring rate and the score slipped to 128-6 after Parker was caught by George Pearson off Farrar just one away from his halfcentury.

Tom Wassell (40) played a cameo innings at this stage to take the score to 170-7.

Corfield and Jonathan Pearson brought the innings to a close in the 48th over. Corfield, a seamer who has turned to off-spin this season, finished with the remarkable figures of 3-28 off 16 overs, while Farrar ended with 3-63.

With 52 overs to bat Tenbury fancied their chances at tea-time. Their spirits were soon dampened when Wassell (2- 28) and Tom Curran (3-20) reduced them to 20-4.

Karl Baker and Andy Adams (12) took the score past 50, but their reply slipped to 91-7 when Baker was dismissed for 40.

Corfield (19 no) and Joe Reynolds dug in until the rain saved the day.

􀁥 It was a totally different story at Penlu. Tenbury 2nd were closing in on a comprehensive win when rain ended play and they had to settle for a winning draw.

Tenbury restricted Amblecote & Wollaston to 167-8 before tea and had just lost their first wicket when the rain came when they were just 21 runs short of their target with 12.3 overs in hand.

Gareth Edwards (2-25), Scott Sellars (2-40), Ian Taylor (2-40) plus a miserly 1-15 off eight overs from Adrian Edwards did the damage with the ball.

Chris Giles (67 no) and Darren Thompson (53) shared an opening stand of 136, with both batsmen claiming nine fours plus one six.

Ludlow 183-5 Tenbury 108

TENBURY bowed out of the Ludlow 20/20 competition after a 75-run defeat by the host club.

Ryan Lockley (79 off 50 balls) led the way when Ludlow batted first and made a big target for their rivals to chase.

Chris Ammonds (29) and Will Gough (32) each scored quick runs, while Jonathan Hughes (3-30) was the pick of the Tenbury bowlers.

Karl Pearson with a run-a-ball 35 was the only Tenbury batsman to put any sustained pressure on the Ludlow bowlers.

Seven bowlers shared the wickets.
