THE dialect of a late pub landlady who lived near Ludlow is featured in a new book.
Sayings at The Sun, Leintwardine includes quotes often used by the celebrated Flossie Lane, who was in charge of the renowned parlour pub on the south Shropshire border until her death in 2009 at the age of 94.
The gems have been captured over the years by coauthor Peter Faulkner and are described as “humorous, if sometimes a little bawdy”.
The book, edited and compiled by fellow author Colin F letcher, also includes poems by the late Sheila Hamer – a farmer’s daughter from Brampton Bryan.
It will be on sale at the pub from noon on Saturday.
Proceeds from the book will go towards restoring Clungunford Parish Hall.
