An opportunist goal right on half time by striker Gareth Horler was enough to secure all three points for Ludlow Town in their away Midland Alliance fixture with Westfields on Tuesday.
Played at the Stourport Swifts ground while their own ground is being completed, Ludlow's winner came after Westfields conceded a corner and Horler, unmarked, was able to turn sharply and fire home a 'gift' goal from just three yards.
Ludlow almost took the lead as early as the 30th minute when Horler was put through for a clear run on goal but only a superb save from Westfields keeper Jon Pugh denied him.
After the break, Westfields came more into the game in search of an equaliser and one effort from Roy Jordan hit the woodwork.
However, Ludlow almost scored a second goal in the 89th minute when Horler again forced a full-length save from Pugh.
