A FEW weeks ago whilst travelling on the A456 road from Newnham Bridge to Tenbury Wells I was caught on camera speeding.

This being a road I do not use very often, I recently went back to check the speed limit signs.

On travelling from Newnham Bridge to Tenbury at 30 mph, with a queue of traffic behind me waiting for an opportunity to overtake, I was surprised to find that at Burford Cottage Hospital, which is more of a built up area than which I had just travelled, the speed limit changed to 40mph.

I cannot understand why the Council and the police prosecute drivers for travelling just a few miles above the limit, which does not improve road safety, but causes people to despise the police etc.

The drivers travelling at 50, 60 and 70mph are the drivers to prosecute, not ordinary drivers doing 33, 35 to 37mph.

Finally I cannot understand why this road, the A456 has a 30mph limit, when a lot of similar roads have 40mph limits.
