Corvedale 316-8 Lilleshall 3rd 203-6

FOR the second week running Corvedale passed the 300 mark, but in-spite of giving themselves an extra ten overs by declaring early, they had to settle for a draw as Lilleshall batted out for a losing draw in Division 6 of the Shropshire County League.

After losing two quick wickets, Ed Griffiths was joined first by Bryn Simmons (54, 6x4's and 4x6's) and then Glyn Tipton (71, 8x4's and 5x6's) to take the score onto 240-4. When Griffiths reached his 150 (19x4's and 7x6's) after 35 overs, skipper Paul Mantle called a halt to proceedings.

D Wright (83no) batted throughout the 55-over Lilleshall innings to defy the visitors the win. Mantle tried all the bowling combinations and techniques available to him, including some leg-spin from wicket keeper Simmons, but to no avail. Mantle was the most successful bowler with 2-35 off 11 overs. Brian and Edward Williams each took a wicket, with the other two falling to the deadly arm of Ross Mantle.
