Darlaston 3 Ludlow Town Reserves 1

THE NEW Ludlow Town Reserve management duo of Tony Osborn and Bill Dunne took their first look at their new side on Saturday after being appointed on Thursday.

They saw some positives in the performance from a scratch side that started life in the new Division 1 of the West Midland League with an away defeat at Darlaston.

The home side played on the lack of cohesion in the Ludlow side to score two early goals. Town foug ht back well for Howard Shearing to reduce the arrears before the break. The second half was uphill as a lack of confidence showed up in the Ludlow play. With the home team's superior fitness playing a factor in the latter stages they extended the lead to seal the win.

Osborn and Dunne are no strangers to one another and come well qualified. Osborn was taking a year out of football after a spell as reserve team manager at Newport. His peaceful year was interrupted when Dunne invited him to assist him with a Sunday side at Shifnal. The pair will act as joint-managers.
