Cleobury hosted Wombourne in a West Midlands League Division One game on Sunday brimming with confidence after their opening league win against Telford.
The opening set started well with Cleobury keeping ahead throughout. Pin point passing from back court and precision setting from Carl Brookes allowed Simon Eades and Adam Bills to kill the ball. The set finished 25-17 in favour of the home side.
Wombourne then came outwith a different formation and managed to keep ahead throughout, taking the set 25-22.
Again, quality passing onto the setter's head from Jon Nock and Nick Di Marco combined with quick middle hitting from Paul Guest, the home side forged 10-4 ahead going on to take the set 25-23.
Wombourne hit back 25-23 to force the match into a deciding set.
The team talk before thefinal set sent Cleobury out on a high. Putting the pressure on with a must win attitude they fought for every ball. At half way they had the edge, changing ends 8-2 ahead. With precision volleyball Cleobury only lost four more points and took the set 15-6.
