BERNARD McNally has infuriated the Ludlow Town management over an approach to talk to skipper and central defender David Andrewartha with a view to a possible transfer.

After shaking hands with assistant manager Bernard Mackie a while ago, agreeing not to try to poach any of the Town players, he rang on Friday to say he was about to serve a seven day notice of approach on the player.

McNally was quoted as saying he had done nothing that the Ludlow management would not have done in the same circumstances. Mackie begged to differ on a couple of grounds. Firstly he would not have been so nave as to shake on such a deal, but if he had, he would certainly have the integrity to carry it out.

Ludlow are naturally keen not to lose a young player that they see as the backbone of their side, a point reflected in the fact they have made him skipper.
