POLICE are treating a fire that ripped through a hotel near Ludlow as suspicious.
The Bringewood Hotel at Burrington was almost destroyed after fire broke out at around 11pm on Monday.
Fire crews reported a “substantial”
blaze and immediately sent for more help.
An investigation is underway after hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of damage was caused to the 11-bedroom property.
Forensic examinations by police and the fire service are ongoing.
Firefighters from Tenbury Wells, Kingsland and surrounding areas were still damping the site down on Tuesday.
Hereford station manager Neil Piggott said: “The fire soon spread throughout the roof space and has almost destroyed the building. Some of the fire crews had to stand well back because the walls started to crack due to the heat and there was a danger that the building would collapse.”
Anyone with information should call Sergeant Nick Green at Leominster police station on 0300 333 3000.
