M&M Timber have created beds to help people grow their own vegetables

CLOWS Top firm M&M Timber is growing its business by tapping into renewed interest in ‘grow your own’.

The firm has created VeggieBeds, raised beds to help people grow their own vegetables, and has been swamped with orders from garden centres and DIY stores.

Easily sited in any garden, raised beds offer improved drainage and soil structure, at a more comfortable working height.

The company is expecting to despatch orders totalling more than £300,000 in the next four weeks alone and is anticipating a record sales year ahead, having already sold more than £500,000 worth over the last ten months.

Some 1,600 orders have come as a result of the Let’s Grow campaign operated by Morrison’s, which has offered vouchers for schools towards gardening equipment.

M&M has also signed a deal to supply the Hilliers Garden Centre group, which will stock the full range of its products in its 14 centres.

Founded more than 30 years ago, M&M employs around 70 staff at its 22-acre Clows Top sawmills.
