Ludlow police write to parents of youths causing problems

LUDLOW police have been tackling anti-social behaviour by writing to the parents of youths causing problems.

Work is also underway to issue the town’s first antisocial behaviour contract and there have been increased patrols in areas such as Parkway, where problems have been reported.

“In December, 13 advisory letters were sent to the parents of those involved in anti-social behaviour and so far in January, a further five letters have been sent out, including one of the most serious level one letters,”

said local policing officer PC Sara Perry.

“The letters ensure that the parents of the youths causing problems are aware of what their children have been getting up to and ask them to work with us to prevent any repeat of such behaviour.

“If this action has no effect, police will then look to have acceptable behaviour contracts drawn up for persistent trouble-makers, with one already in the process of being finalised.

“Compared to other parts of the country, the levels of anti-social behaviour are low in Ludlow, and Shropshire as a whole,” said PC Perry.

“However, this does not make it any less upsetting for those who are affected and we will continue to work with our various partners to reduce levels across the town.”

Working with PC Perry are PC Dan Wood and community support officer Siobhan Wrigley. The team is available on 0300 333 3000 or on voicemail at 01743 264779.
