AN exciting new septet hits the Shropshire jazz scene on Sunday at The Old Lion Tap, Wyle Cop, Shrewsbury.
Led by trumpeter Jim Mould, Westcoastin’ celebrate the golden era of 1950s Californian jazz when musicians like Chet Baker, Gerry Mulligan, Marty Paich, Art Pepper and Shorty Rogers would play their new ‘cool jazz’ at the Lighthouse on Hermosa beach and the Haig Club in LA. The other members of Westcoastin’ are saxophonists Julian Dean, Ed Reece and John Williams along with pianist Stuart Goodhew, double bassist Chris Jones and drummer Andy Richards.
The performance starts at 8pm. Admission is £5 or £3 for students and unwaged. For more information call 01743 350016 or 07939 121607.
