CLEE Hill & District Branch Royal British Legion was delighted with the support for its prize bingo in aid of the Poppy Appeal on September 19 at Clee Hill Village Hall.

Total profits from the evening were £462.60, with about 90 people attending.

The branch would like to thank all who joined us for a most enjoyable evening, and all the local businesses, including the Ludlow Advertiser, who donated the fantastic prizes that were on offer.

In 2008, the Poppy Appeal spent more than £88 million carrying out work among the serving and ex-Service community.

This was largely funded by donations and fund-raising efforts such as this. The event was such a success that we hope to run more in the future, so watch this space!

The branch annual Ser vice of Remembrance will be held on November 8 at Clee Hill Village Hall at 6pm, followed by refreshments at the Golden Cross, Clee Hill.

All are welcome to come along and take part in this moving ser vice to remember men and women who have suffered and died in conflict in the service of our country and all those who mourn them.

FAY VASS, Vice-President, Clee Hill & District Royal British Legion c/o The Crescent, Clee Hill, Ludlow.
