WHEN planning her daughter’s wedding, Gwynneth Carpenter realised that the beautiful marquee they were using at Yearston Court, Clifton-on-Teme, would be standing empty the following day.
It provided an opportunity to host an event to raise funds for St Michael’s Hospice in memory of friends Jane Coldicott and Ed Hill.
Gwynneth formed a committee with husband Edward, daughter Clare, Pip Jones, Pam Halliday and Robert Coldicott to put on a lunch and auction of promises.
One hundred and sixty five people attended and raised £8,406.
Clare and new husband Hywel John delayed departing for their honeymoon to attend. “It was the perfect end to a truly magical weekend,” said Gwynneth.
