PEOPLE travelling into and out of Ludlow and south Shropshire on the main A49 can expect delays.

The Highways Agency is planning to resurface the Dinmore Hill section of the A49, alongside Queens-wood Countr y Park, seven miles north of Hereford.

Work is needed to renew a section of the well-used existing road surface with a high-friction, skid-reducing road surfacing to provide a safer road for motorists.

To minimise disruption to motorists, work is set to take place overnight from 8pm to 6am each night from next Monday for 12 nights.

The road will be closed completely overnight, between the northbound turn to Burghope and the Hope-under-Dinmore and Woodmanton turn, until work is completed at the end of this month. Northbound traffic will be diverted northeast via the A4103 then northwest along the A417 back to rejoin the A49.

Southbound traffic will follow the same diversion route in the opposite direction.

John Steel, Highways Agency project manager, said: “Slight overnight delays may occur due to the diversion being longer.”
