WE are all Europhiles if the success of a continental market in Ludlow at the weekend is anything to go by.

Traders from France, Germany, Belgium and Spain were in Ludlow for three days, alongside regular stallholders.

They were selling a range of products with bread, cheeses, sausages, meats and olives proving most popular.

“Knowing the great love of good food in this area, it came as no surprise that the continental market was a great success,” said Chris Bayliss, Ludlow’s recently appointed markets manager.

“The most important thing is that it brought more people to Ludlow market to see and sample the excellent products available from our local traders.

“Feedback from the continental traders, our own stallholders and the customers has been excellent, so it is something that we will look to do again in the future.”

Ten trailers of products made the long journey to Ludlow from Europe. It is anticipated that the next continental market in the town will be in the summer of next year.
